Alberta Education asked us to share this message from Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides

A few reminders upon our return in January:

Diploma Exams: 

• As the Government of Alberta confirmed in late October, Diploma Exams are cancelled for January 2026. 
• Students will receive their school awarded mark as their final official course mark. 

School Calendar:

• With the Government of Alberta canceling Diploma Exams, Fort McMurray Catholic Schools will make no more official changes to instructional days in our calendar.

Father Mercredi and Holy Trinity Catholic High Schools:

• In January, there will be no final exams for Grade 10-12 to allow teachers the time needed to teach all the curricular outcomes in their classes.
• January 28, 2026 - Last day of classes for semester 1.
• January 29, 2026 - Semester turnaround day for Middle School and High School (no classes for Father Mercredi and Holy Trinity to prepare for semester 2)
• February 2, 2026 - First Day of classes for Semester 2.

Elementary Report Cards: 

• Elementary report cards will be released in January and June.
• Families are encouraged to continue monitoring Edsby for updates on student learning and school events throughout the year.
